Our people

Paul is CEO of Belltown Power UK and heads up all of Belltown’s UK activities, with a particular focus on strategy, funding and team.

Paul has been with the Belltown Group since its foundation in 2013. He acted initially as an Investment Director leading acquisitions of pre-construction wind, solar and hydro projects across the UK, and then spent two years as Managing Director, overseeing construction and operation of UK projects as well as the growth of Belltown's US solar development platform.

In 2020 he set up Belltown Power UK with Andy Black and Joel Hutchinson, fully focused on building and developing a pipeline of new greenfield projects from scratch.

Prior to Belltown, Paul worked at the Boston Consulting Group, primarily in the Private Equity and Energy practice areas. Paul holds an MBA from Berkeley-Haas School of Business and an MA in Mathematics from The University of Edinburgh.

Joel is the Chief Development Officer at Belltown Power UK and leads our on-the-ground development activities in the UK.

Joel joined the Belltown Group in 2014 as a Construction Project Manager, delivering Belltown’s pipeline of ROC and CfD onshore wind and solar assets. Part of the founding team of Belltown Power UK in 2020, initially as Head of Development, Joel has since been focused on developing new unsubsidized onshore wind projects, specialising in managing the community engagement and planning process. Joel has been in the renewables industry since 2008, with previous roles including the development of GW-scale offshore wind farms at RWE Innogy and the engineering of biogas energy systems in rural, developing communities in India.

Joel has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Wind Turbine Blade Design and Manufacture, both from the University of Nottingham

Ellie is Office Manager & Events Coordinator at Belltown Power UK. 

Ellie joined Belltown Power UK in 2024. With several years of experience in administration and community engagement within the renewable energy industry, Ellie ensures the seamless operation of both the Bristol and London offices, playing a pivotal role in maintaining an efficient and positive work environment. 

Ellie holds a BSc in Geography obtained from the University of Bristol, and is particularly passionate about creating inclusive social events which encourage collabaration. 

James is Commercial Director of Belltown Power UK and leads on commerical work-streams.

James has been with Belltown Group since 2016, joining Belltown’s investment team. During that period, James led or supported the successful wind, solar, and storage transactions totaling over 200MW. James has also led Belltown's Venture Fund since 2017, overseeing the new fund and venture investments and, as well as its existing investments.

James joined Belltown Power UK in 2020 as part of its founding team and was initially responsible for identifying and progressing Belltown’s unsubsidized onshore wind development pipeline in Wales, as well as providing commercial and financing expertise to the wider Belltown Power UK team.

Prior to Belltown, James worked for Accenture. He has a BA in European Social and Political Studies and an MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment, both from UCL, as well as an MBA from INSEAD.

Pete is Technical Director for Belltown Power UK and leads on all of the technical and construction aspects of our projects.

Pete has been with the Belltown Group since its foundation in 2013. Upon joining, Pete led the construction team that delivered Belltown’s portfolio of over 200MW of government-supported wind, solar and hydro in the UK. In 2020, Pete joined Belltown Power UK as part of its founding team and has been focused on the development of new unsubsidized onshore wind projects in the UK, with a particular specialty in technical design. Pete has 20 years of experience in the renewable energy industry having previously worked for 9 years at DNV-GL where he provided technical and project management services for wind and solar energy projects in the UK and other major global markets.

Pete is a Chartered Engineer and has an MEng in Aerospace Engineering from Liverpool University.

Andy is Founder, Director and COO of Belltown Power UK and is responsible for all operational aspects of our new UK activities. Andy co-founded Belltown Power in 2013 alongside Mike Kaplan and Tom Hill-Norton.

Andy has over 20 years of experience in the renewable energy industry. He started his career working for DNV-GL, the world’s leading independent renewable energy consultancy, where he provided a wide range of technical and project management services across most major markets throughout the world, leading to the successful deployment of over 5GW of installed capacity. In the four years before starting Belltown, Andy set up and ran the Project Development Service Group at DNV-GL providing turnkey and bespoke Project development services to UK developers.

Andy has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Management from Birmingham University, UK.

Nhungi is the Head of Finance at Belltown Power UK and manages the finance and HR related activities for the company and its subsidiaries. 

Nhungi has been with Belltown Group since 2016, joining the asset management team as a Finance Manager. Her initial focus was the delivery of all financial services for multiple operational investor portfolios in the UK. In 2020, she supported the setup of Belltown Power UK and since then she is responsible for the finance functions of the new development projects in the UK.

Prior to Belltown, Nhungi was a Financial Analyst at Lightsource, where she was assessing the financial performance of various renewable energy project portfolios. She has a BA in Finance and Accounting from Corvinus University of Budapest, as well as an MSc in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship from the University of Nottingham. She has also qualified as an ACCA Chartered Accountant in less than two years.

Steve is Head of Grid at Belltown Power UK and leads on all grid workstreams.

Steve joined Belltown Power UK in January 2022 and is focused on the grid connection requirements for our unsubsidised Solar, onshore Wind and Storage development pipeline across the UK. Steve has over 30 years of experience in the Electricity Utilities Sector and brings a comprehensive knowledge of Electricity Transmission and Distribution having held several senior roles across regulatory business plan development, asset management, project development, design and delivery as well as leading roles in transmission infrastructure development within different joint venture organisations.

Cat is our in-house legal counsel at Belltown Power and advises on land transactions across our portfolio.

Cat joined Belltown Power UK in September 2024 with an extensive background advising on real estate aspects of renewable energy projects in Scotland, England, and Wales. Prior to joining Belltown, Cat spent over 10 years working in leading private practice firms in Edinburgh and Bristol. 

Cat is dual qualified in Scotland and England & Wales, and has a LLB(Hons) from the university of Glasgow, and a DipLP from Glasgow Graduate School of Law.

Lawrence is a Senior Development Manager for Belltown Power UK and leads Belltown's RePower team and portfolio of projects. 

Lawrence joined Belltown Group in 2017 and has worked across the full lifecycle of wind energy projects, initially overseeing the management of Belltown’s large operational wind assets. Lawrence joined Belltown Power UK in 2020 as part of its founding team and was focused on origination and development of Belltown’s greenfield onshore wind projects in Wales and Scotland.

Prior to joining Belltown, Lawrence worked for DNV in the UK and India, consulting on a wide range of renewable energy projects. Lawrence has an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol and is a Chartered Engineer.

Cherry is a Senior Land Manager at Belltown Power UK and focused on land engagement. 

Cherry Joined Belltown Power UK in January 2022. Cherry is currently focused on land origination, engagement, and negotiation across the solar and wind pipeline. Her farming background gives her an in depth understanding of the challenges facing farmers today. Cherry has over 10 years’ experience in the renewable energy industry, particularly in large scale solar development.

Cherry holds an Honours Degree in Business Studies from Sheffield Hallam University and an NVQ Level 7 in Strategic Management and Leadership.

Charles is our General Counsel for Belltown Group and supports Belltown Power UK with corporate legal matters. 

Charles joined Belltown in 2016 and is a corporate lawyer with over 10 years of experience advising on renewable energy projects in the UK and abroad. He has worked in private practice in Australia and the UK, including as part of the corporate legal team at Withers LLP in London for four years. In 2012 Charles became General Counsel of Green Hedge which developed and financed over 20 utility-scale solar farms. Charles joined Belltown as General Counsel in 2016 and manages Belltown’s legal affairs. He is also involved in project development, acquisitions, financings, and disposals, as well as assisting with asset management and investor relations.

Charles is dual qualified and admitted as a solicitor in England and Australia. Charles has a B.Laws from the University of Technology in Sydney.

Simon is Head of Systems and Software at Belltown Group and is responsible for Belltown Power UK's IT systems and data collection site measurement campaigns. 

Simon joined Belltown in 2018 is a Chartered Engineer with expertise in renewable energy analytics and tool development. Prior to joining Belltown, Simon worked at DNV GL leading algorithm development on their wind digital twin service. He has extensive experience in performance analysis, optimisation, and energy yield assessments for operational wind and solar projects both in Europe and North America; wind and solar short-term power forecasts; and tidal energy resource assessments. Simon works across Belltown Group in related roles. 

Simon has an MEng in Engineering Design from Bristol University.

Daniel is a Lead Development Manager at Belltown UK, focused on onshore wind projects in Scotland.

Daniel has been with Belltown Power UK since 2019 and has led on all aspects of project development over this period, from initial site procurement through to delivery of large scale planning applications. Alongside planning-focused workstreams, Daniel has experience managing project grid connections, negotiating land agreements, running technical due diligence and promoting community relations.

Daniel has a Master's degree in Mechancial Engineering from the University of Bristol, where he specialised in Renewable Energy.

Fraser is a Lead Development Manager at Belltown UK where he manages the Craig Nab project and leads on the planning workstreams for our solar projects. 

Fraser joined Belltown Group in 2016 and has 9 years of experience working in the renewable energy sector, previously as an asset manager and performance analysist and now as a developer for wind and solar projects in the UK. In his previous roles, he managed operational solar, wind, hydro and battery projects and also carried out detailed performance anaylsis across these 4 technologies. In 2021, Fraser moved to Belltown Power UK and has focused on project development where he has managed the Craig Nab project towards planning submission and led on the early stage origination and development of solar projects in England and Wales.

Fraser has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol.

Louis is a Development Manager at Belltown Power UK and responsible for the development of the Waun Maenllwyd Wind Energy Hub in Ceredigion. 

Louis has been with Belltown UK since 2021 during which time he has focused on developing and growing our Welsh onshore wind project pipeline and provided health and safety support to the UK team. Prior to Belltown, Louis entered the renewable energy sector in 2019 as a Design Engineer, specialising in commercial and residential rooftop solar PV, battery storage systems, and EV chargepoints. Louis also worked as a Tennis Systems Engineer for Hawkeye Innovations at international tennis events across the world. 

Louis has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Sheffield.

Ruth is a Development Manager at Belltown Power UK. Ruth has a broad focus and leads or supports development of onshore wind and solar development in England, Scotland, and Wales. 

Ruth joined Belltown Power UK in 2022 and spent two years focused on our projects in Wales, gaining experience particularly in planning, access and community engagement work, before turning to focus on repowering sites in Scotland and solar in England. Alongside development, Ruth is also Belltown’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion representative. Before joining Belltown, Ruth worked as a technician and Production Manager in the performing arts, and has seven years of project management experience in this industry.

Ruth holds an MSc in Climate Change: Science, Environment, and Policy from King’s College London, a Post Graduate Diploma in Global Development Challenges from the University of Edinburgh, and a BMus in Music, also from the University of Edinburgh.

Ilie is a Development Manager at Belltown Power UK. 

Ilie joined Belltown Power UK in 2021. Ilie is focused on developing Belltown's portfolio of solar and wind assets across the UK. In addition, Ilie has a partiuclar focus on future business growth exploration and analysis, including into new technologies such as hydrogen and geographic expansion.  

Prior to Belltown he worked as an engineer in the tidal energy sector and holds an Engineering Doctorate in Offshore Renewable Energy jointly awarded by the Universities of Exeter, Edinburgh, and Strathclyde as well as a BSc in Renewable Energy from the University of Exeter.

Ben is a Development Manager at Belltown Power UK currently focused on our Scottish wind pipeline and English solar. 

Ben has been with Belltown since 2021. Ben is is responsible for development of Belltown's onshore wind portfolio in Scotland. AIn addition, Ben manages the wind measurement campaign across the portfolio and leads on improving geospatial processes and tools for Belltown’s work. 

Ben has MENG in Engineering Design from the University of Bristol with a particular focus on renewable energy. 

Matt is a Development Manager for Belltown Power UK who is working on the identification and development of new onshore wind opportunities in the UK.

Matt joined Belltown Power UK in September 2024 after spending 7 years working as an Engineer, starting in composite materials research and development with a focus on renewable energy, before working  as a structural engineer for a leading wind turbine blade design and manufacturer.

Matt graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 with a Masters in Aerospace Engineering, is working towards completing his Chartership application with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, and has recently gained a Project Management Qualification with the Assosciation of Project Managers.

Antoine is a Development Manager at Belltown Power UK and is focused on all Belltown RePower and solar workstreams. 

Antoine joined Belltown UK in 2023. Since joining, Antoine has been heavily involved in identifying, growing, and developing our pipeline of repowering onshore wind projects. Antoine is also one of Belltown's Mental Health First Aiders.

Antoine has a BSc in Cellular Biology and Neuroscience with honours at McGill University and an MSc in Climate Change Science and Policy at King's College London, for which he achieved a distinction. Prior to Belltown, Antoine worked in the reforestation sector, on a vineyard, and in hospitality. 

Eleanor is a Junior Development Manager at Belltown Power UK, focused on developing both onshore wind projects in Scotland and UK-wide repowering projects.

Eleanor has been with Belltown Power UK since 2023, during which time she has been involved with initial greenfield site identification, as well as more detailed site development work. Prior to Belltown, Eleanor worked in the manufacturing sector, designing additive manufacturing machines through a circular economy approach.
 
Eleanor has a Master’s Degree in Engineering Design from the University of Bristol, with a focus on de-carbonisation & renewable energy.

Max is the Accounts and Development Assistant at Belltown Power UK. 

Max joined Belltown UK in February 2022 through the Kickstart scheme as an Admin Assistant, then he decided to pursue his interest in accounting and renewable energy with a full-time role in May 2023.  At Belltown, Max supports the wider team, including the Belltown Farms and Belltown USA team, in a wide variety of tasks and has cultivated a set of skills. Max is always keen to pick up new skills, with a personal interest in music and reading, he continues to support the team in their day-to-day activities.

Max is studying to become a chartered accountant.
